WORK OUT 2: "TABATA TRIMMER"

I am a huge fan of TABATA!

And here is why:

With Tabata training you exercise for 20 seconds then rest for 10 seconds, and repeat 8 times. This with a short preparation time before starting is a Tabata. It's that simple.
This technique discovered by Dr. Izumi Tabata in Tokyo gives you maximum benefits in a short period of time.
Benefits:
  • It burns fat! Tabata raises your metabolism (great for morning workouts)
  • It's fast! You gain the same benefits of long drawn out workouts in shorter time
  • It's versatile! You can do heavy weightlifting or light aerobics or anything in between. Do the exercises that are right for you, but do them!
  • It's proven! It really works, this technique has been researched extensively, and it is becoming popular because people are getting results!

So, I bring to you my TABATA TRIMMER work out! You have 4 different exercises, and you will be doing each one for 4 min. with 20 seconds worth of 110% effort and 10 seconds rest. To get the most out of tabata training, it is imperative that you give ALL you have during the 20 seconds you are going. As you start to get tired- keep moving no matter what! Do NOT stop. I don't care if you are marching in place by the end- just KEEP moving! Stay strong:)

Here is a great tabata timer you can use, and you can also download it on your smart phone. Go here to access it. Each round is a total of 4 minutes. Then take 1 minute rest in between exercises- which will give you a FAT torching workout in just 20 minutes! Are you ready??

3. Lunge hops (you will do 4 rounds on one leg, then switch to the other leg for the remaining 4 rounds)

For another prize entry,  leave a comment below once you have completed the workout and tell me which exercise made you burn the most;)

  7. My lower body is weaker than my upper body, so the jump squats stung!!! I still have to take a lot of breaks to catch my breath with every exercise.

    1. I love it!! We all have our strengths and weaknesses- and during tabata, you can bet I'm catching my breath quite a bit too! That means you are working to maximum capacity:) Great job Sonya!

  8. The push ups totally burned me out! Started with girl push ups and moved to the modi modi and then back to the girl push ups for the last 20 seconds. Thanks!

    1. I love it!! You kept moving-- and that is why I gave ALL the breakdowns of each exercise, because too many people give up- even on just the modification. My motto- is keep moving and go back when you have had a chance to recover- but no stopping! :) You SO did that! Nice job:)

  10. Wow, this was so tough on my post-pregnancy body. Definitely had to do a lot of the modi-modi's. The toughest were the star jumps.

    1. Nice job Miriam!! Modi-Modi's are there just for that reason! And as long as you keep going- then before you know it, you won't be doing any modifications at all! :)

  11. Oh man! I started off thinking the push-ups were going to be the toughest. It was definitely the lunge jumps!

  13. Dang. After 60 days I would have thought something like this would be easier. I had to do the mody modies of the push ups and plank jumps. Plank jumps were worst, though all were HARD!!

    1. This is why I love giving people challenges!! It NEVER gets easier. You know why?? Because you push yourself harder and harder each time. Instead of doing only wall - push ups, you can now do girl push ups, etc... it is all about the growth- but because you keep pushing to your max- it stays hard! And that is the way you want it!!:) I love it!! Be proud:)

    1. Star jumps are definitely a tough exercise!! But they burn calories and torch fat- so they are worth every jump:)
